Dear Summer Vibes Event served as a fun way for Brooklyn residents to say farewell to the Summer
On the weekend of Aug. 28th and 29th, the Dear Summer Vibes Event hosted by Da Spot NYC, City Point Brooklyn, Downtown Brooklyn, and Find Your ID NYC took place in Downtown Brooklyn in Albee Square. The event was open to families and people of all ages. The event was Da Spot NYC’s second event post-pandemic, and it had an incredible turnout. With a 90’s block party theme, there were games for children to play, magicians, Soca music tutorials, and trivia.
Guests were entertained with live art and an art gallery with work by different artists of color. Da Spot NYC Boutique hosted over 20 BIPOC vendors with a variety of products. Find Your ID was proud to have their famous Retro Photobooth activated for the event, styling and providing attendees with vibrant photos in 90s themed gear by Find Your ID NYC founder, Imani Jones. The event ran from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm est with unique activities for everyone involved.
The curation of the event showcased Black Excellence through cultural games, modern trends, and authentic Brooklyn flavor. Dreamcast Mcfly led Brooklynites outdoors with his morning Trap Yoga session. All-female dance crew TCM stunned the audience with an interactive dance featuring the newest youth dancers of their new dance school, which is currently owned and operated in Downtown Brooklyn. NYC-based musicians and vocalists played and sang live at the event.
One of the headlining artists was Sierra Collins, 27, who recently became a resident artist with FYID NYC’s Talent Agency. The Organic Jam Session ended the evening with performing artists MonLe, Jordan Watkins, and even Organic Jam Session co-founder Hoox with his band The Africanos. “The Summer Vibes Festival was the perfect way to wrap up the summer. Seeing so many amazing creatives at work truly inspired me. While hosting, I felt like I was part of a family and a movement at the same time. It was an absolute honor to participate and a pleasure to attend,” President Ella, a host and performer at the event, said.
The goal of the event was to bring the community together after being apart for so long and celebrating the end of summer. “For Da Spot, Dear Summer Vibes was created as an extension of our platform to shine more light on local and independent creatives and just enjoy ourselves. We work hard all year round as entrepreneurs and it’s time we celebrate the creative culture,” Michelle Cadore, co-founder of Da Spot, said.
